Well for anyone patient enough to come back to my blog if there is a new post (I don't blame you if you don't, I am a bad blogger here lol) I thought I would share something. On my hubpages articles I made my first affiliated amazon sale the other day! Woooo Hoooo! It actually was 2 purchases from the same person, yay me! If I remember right it was worth a whopping $0.68! It may be small beans but its very encouraging.

Advertising in here

So there are a lot of ads in here with adsense. I can accept that as I am used to seeing those sorts of ads all over the place. To help me increase my profile on the great wide internet I was suggested to do link exchanges and have had my first request. I started to put it up in a much older post. Would you please let me know what you think of ads in posts?

fun 'credit crunch' holidays

I am currently on my summer holiday from working at my local primary school.  Having 6 weeks holiday every summer can be a nice break, but working at a school (not a teacher either) means I dont make much money so taking cheep holidays is something I have gotten good at.

My last holiday trip was just down on the south coast of england (I am in London) in an area called the Jurassic Coast.  While we were looking for camp sites we found a number of yha's (youth hostels) that were really cheap and looked nice.  We are currently planning our next holiday and are planning on using a yha this time as we are going with a friend who hates camping.  We have found a place that does out door family climbing days and with splitting the cost it should be a great cheap family holiday.

The best thing for me about a holiday like this is that being an american it is the sort of thing that I used to consider a rich persons holiday.  Being a foreign national means I look at this great country with the eyes of a tourist but with a locals knowledge, making a great combination for finding memorable holidays without having to break the bank.

For those who are looking for a good holiday and saving money I would suggest trying to be a tourist in your local area.  Your local tourist office can be a great resource for finding attractions you may never have thought of or even heard of.  Happy summer!

Family troubles

So I received an email from my aunt Noreen yesterday. The family has finally sold my grandmas house after many years as my grandpa cannot live on his own anymore. My aunts have paid all the taxes and such on the house over those years and recently have done all the leg work for getting the house sold, cleaning and packing and such. My dad has not been able to do any of this leg work as he had a collapsed lung last year and my step mom has just finished kemo for breast cancer. There was issue with the money from the house being split evenly between the 3 of them (dad, aunt kate and aunt noreen) as my aunts have been paying for the house and have done all the work to get it sold and they feel that dad should reimburse them for the costs and he refuses. They tried to confront him about it and he got real mad and started to call the police, there was some sort of physical altercation where my dad had a fall and in the end he did call the police. There is now a 5 year restraining order on my aunts and my uncle against my dad for no contact of any sort.

I sometimes cannot understand what people are like. My dad and his sisters have always been very close and I would have said that my dad didnt give two figs for money (that was more my step moms thing and she may well be the pressure on my dad that got this whole thing out of hand I just dont know). Money has come between my family and it makes no sense to me. I know family can be difficult as we dont get to choose them like we can our friends but then again friends come and go family should be the rock we can always count on.

Its amazing how money can effect our lives. Without it we can really struggle, with to much we can get very self destructive or we can do great good. I guess the message is to keep in mind that pursuing money is ok to do but it needs to be a means to an ends not the ends itself. For me the end result of pursuing money is to improve the lives of myself, my family, my friends and my community. Mother Theresa didnt keep the money she earned but she did earn loads, how else could she have done all the great good that she did poor?

I hope that if ever I am able to make large amounts of money I will use it as a tool to improve the worlds I live in. When I was poor I took so much and when I am rich I hope to give back 10 fold more then I ever took.

the universe gave me a cucumber

So I went shopping yesterday and while I did not need one (we have one at home already) I found a plastic wrapped cucumber out in front of my local tescos.
So I went to the park today and on the walk home guess what happens?.....
I found another cucumber!

Is the universe trying to tell me to eat more cucumber? lol

sun gazing

Hello

Since my first blog I have been thinking about what I would like to share here. I am really excited about something that I have been doing for a little while now, sun gazing. It may sound kinda weird and yes it is what it says in the name! :). Basically I have been gazing at the sun when the UV levels are safe for my eyes. The maximum suggested as safe is UV level 2, however I do find that to be to bright for my eyes so I only gaze at low level UV1. At this intensity my eyes feel relaxed and quite pleasant actually.

When I started sun gazing it was mostly just curiosity, my mother in law had been sun gazing for a little while and was really excited about what it was doing for her and I figured I would give it a try. This was in the winter months and I did not do it for long before the weather turned bad and I stopped bothering, unfortunately before I started to feel any positive effects. A few months ago when the weather started to be nice again I started gazing again after listening to Hira Ratan Manek (who globally teaches this practice) speak about what sun gazing has done for him.

I will not tell you about what effects sun gazing has had for him as this is going to be second hand information and there is loads on the net about him. I will share what the effects have been for me so far as this is my personal experience and has got me really excited. Before I say more about the effects I have experienced I want to explain the process a bit more. When starting you will gaze at the sun for 10 seconds only, one the second day you add 10 seconds making a total of 20 seconds, on the third day you add 10 seconds making a total of 30 seconds. Each day you add 10 seconds until reaching the maximum gazing time of 45 mins at which point you can go back the lesser time of 15 minutes or not at all any more. If you wish to try it you will need to also cover and close your eyes after gazing until the colors and flares go to black. I have not had much problem with this but others have said that in the beginning they spent more time waiting for the colors and flares to go black then actually gazing.

I have worked my way up to 6 minutes 20 seconds of sun gazing so far and my only complaint is that I wish I go increase my gazing for more time as I am impatient and really enjoy it. When my appetite started to decrease and my cravings changed to wanting fresh, raw fruit and vegetables I figured it maybe could all be in my head but I have continued to feel less hunger and more satisfaction from fruit and veg without going hungry or feeling unwell and dont think that would happen if it was all in my head. The hours I sleep at night has not gone down yet but when I wake up I do feel much more rested and ready to face the day. If you have heard of the law of attraction you will understand this one and might even have technique to suggest. The law of attraction is all about your head space and emotional space and says that how you think and feel will attract stuff on the same level. When I get into a bad head space and am feeling angry or negative I can find it really difficult to shift out of that space and just recently I have noticed with my sun gazing that it helps to break my attachment to that anger or whatever so that I can get back to feeling and attracting more possitive stuff.

Some of this may have sounded really out there to some of you and I would strongly suggest that you research any of what I have mentioned that got your attention as its pretty powerful stuff. I would love to hear any comments or receive questions.

Wishing you Health, Wealth and Abundance

Kirsten

Monday 22 June 2009

Hello, my name is Kirsten and this is my first ever blog!

For my first blog I guess I can talk a little about myself and share some of my interests ect.

I come from a bit of a rough background and have had to overcome some personal problems. I was diagnosed with 2 forms of depression, PTSD, and Borderline personality disorder. Overcoming the depression and the rest has set me on a road to self improvement in just about every area of life. I figure why stop at just not being depressed? Why settle for just OK? I want to be as healthy and happy as is humanly possible in all areas, mind body and soul as they say (and if possible in my bank account HA!).

I have written an ebook about what has worked for me in overcoming my self harm symptoms associated with my various diagnosis. If you should want to check it out my web site is http://www.conqueringselfharm.com. In it I explain the process that leads from thoughts to emotion. Basically we cant control the events in our lives all the time but we can examine our thoughts about the events and take control of those. The thoughts we have about events in our lives are what create our emotional response so by changing our thoughts we change our emotion.

To help try to improve the health of my bank account my husband and I have worked together designing a sudoku board http://www.sudokuonlinegames.co.uk with several easy medium and hard games to play online. If you fancy a game please check us out. We do offer a membership to create a bit of income and offer the sudoku board for download and offline play as well as free games each month (that will play on the board) and email newsletters monthly with all sorts of sudoku guides, videos and anything else we find that we want to share with members.

On top of these online ventures I have 2 part time day jobs to help make the bills. I expect that future blogs will be on either work, profitable ventures online, or sharing some of the stories from my past. Everyone who knows me and knows about my past has said I should write a book about it all but that sounds to much like school homework type work and I just cant commit to that. Blogging might just be the solution, just a bit of fun and a way of sharing what has so far been an unbelievable life :).

Please feel free to comment on anything in this blog or on others that come in the future! :D

Wealth, Health, and Abundance my wish for you
